At the recent and wonderful SCBWI conference in Winchester, I decided to have a go at the ‘Comixtravaganza’ competition.

For this, all I had to do was draw a comic strip about my writing day.  As you will see from my effort below, drawing is not my forte - but I was assured that stick-figures would be fine, so I went and submitted it.  Entries were posted up on a board, brilliant drawings from talented illustrated and not a stick figure amongst them. 

At least what I wrote is the truth - honest!  (Yes, I really did sort out my sock drawer and then wrote something completely different - and the dog was no help at all)

OK, it’s not exactly a glamorous author pic, and it is NOT the long-awaited much edited one my daughter is going to do really Mum when she has the time, but it was kindly sent to me by Candy Gourley and it does rather sum it up for me.

Jackie Boldy goes where no self-respecting amateur web hack has been before . . .

What I would like to know is how Candy has time to do this?!  (I mean making it look like I’m wearing a space suit - I wasn’t really wearing it - honest)

I would also like to know how to add a caption to this pic (I’ve added a caption when I uploaded it,  but the caption has been lost in the cyber-ether.)  Anyway, the caption should be ‘here I am, boldly going where no sensible amateur web-hack has gone before’.

(By the way, the glamorous author pic may be here sooner than I’d hoped - we’ve just been to Henley festival and I had to wear evening dress.  Perfect photo opportunity - trouble is, my dress is strapless, so my head and shoulders shot looks like I’m not wearing anything, which probably isn’t the impression a children’s author should give . . .)
